UNZA Holds White Coat, Induction and Prize Giving Ceremony for Health Professions Students
The future of healthcare continues to shine brightly as the University of Zambia (UNZA) on 18th May 2026, held its White Coat, Induction and Prize Giving Ceremony at Ridgeway Campus.
A total of 243 Bachelor of Nursing Sciences students were officially inducted into the profession, while 43 final year Diploma Registered Nursing students and 27 final year Diploma Registered Midwifery students took part in the ceremony, marking an important milestone in their academic and professional journey.
The ceremony, which celebrated academic excellence and professional commitment, featured the symbolic Oath Taking and Candlelight Ceremony, signifying compassion, dedication and service to humanity.
Zambia Union of Nurses and Midwives Organisation (ZUNMO) General Secretary Martin Muloongo, together with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia Representative in Charge of Legislation and Licensing Specialist Evelyn Daka, were joined by senior nurses and midwives in leading the oath-taking ceremony for the nursing and midwifery students as the graduating students further participated in the candlelight ceremony.
The White Coat Ceremony officially welcomed students into health professions training, while the Prize Giving segment recognised outstanding academic performance and commitment to excellence. Similar ceremonies were also held for students in Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Public Health and Environmental Health, reflecting UNZA’s commitment to producing competent healthcare professionals for the nation.
The event further highlighted the vital role health professionals continue to play in strengthening Zambia’s healthcare system through professionalism, innovation and compassionate care.
