The Zambia Union of Nurses and Midwives Organisation (ZUNMO) and Texila American University Zambia (TAU Z) have once again reaffirmed their enduring collaboration through the renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), strengthening their shared commitment to advancing professional education for Zambia’s healthcare workforce.
Speaking at the official signing ceremony, ZUNMO President Fray Michelo described the moment as “a historic milestone” in a long-standing partnership that began in 2017. “We are not merely committing to words on paper—we are reaffirming a long-standing and fruitful relationship that has yielded tangible benefits for our members and the broader Zambian healthcare landscape,” he stated.

Under the renewed agreement, ZUNMO members and their children will continue to benefit from discounted tuition:
- 15% to 30% discount for ZUNMO general membership and leaders
- 10% discount for children of ZUNMO members across all TAU Z undergraduate programs
The MoU also promises continued access to undergraduate and postgraduate programs in critical fields such as Nursing, Public Health, Management, IT, and Medicine—programs designed to meet the growing demand for well-trained healthcare professionals in Zambia.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Poddar emphasized the enduring trust and cooperation between the two institutions. “Over 100 ZUNMO members have graduated since the inception of this partnership. We renew this MoU annually to keep pace with emerging academic trends and the evolving vision of both parties,” he noted. He further affirmed TAU Z’s readiness to expand the partnership beyond the MoU by offering special lectures and capacity-building sessions for ZUNMO members.

President Michelo concluded with a call to action: “ZUNMO is ready and eager to support this agreement in both spirit and practice. We are committed to promoting these opportunities, encouraging academic advancement, and building a competent, ethical, and impactful health workforce for Zambia.”
This renewed partnership stands as a shining example of what visionary collaboration can achieve—and a beacon of hope for the future of healthcare in Zambia.
