ZUNO president Mrs. Tisa Chiponda has urged nurses and midwives in the country to cement their role of being a trusted voice and patient advocate in society, as the country battles misinformation on Covid-19.
Mrs. Chiponda expressed appreciation to the nurses and midwives in the country stating that they have risen to the challenge presented by Covid 19 despite the work burden, exhaustion, grief and frustration that has come with the pandemic.

“We are not only battling with Covid-19 but also the misinformation that comes along with it. As Nurses and midwives, we do understand the scientific world, and know that vaccines, hand-in-hand with the recommended health guidelines signal hope” she said.
She restated that effective public sensitisation and education on the safety and benefit of the COVID-19 vaccines would further improve the acceptance and consumption of the vaccine.
Mrs. Chiponda further urged the Government to ensure the vaccines are available and accessible to all that are willing to get it.
She encouraged nurses and midwives to continue being “A Voice to Lead” both now and for future healthcare during the pandemic, while employing the best infection control measures.
